Firepot Lawyer
An exploding firepot lawyer and pourable gel fuel lawyer is committed to advocating for the rights of those who have suffered injuries or losses from Napa Home & Garden’s exploding firepots used with Fuel Barons’ gel fuel products, as well as BirdBrain’s exploding clay firepots. Since the firepots were first manufactured and sold in 2008, at least 37 incident reports related to exploding ceramic firepots have been reported to Napa Home and Garden, including at least 23 burn injuries from the fuel gel in the firepots. Firepots and gel fuel manafactured by other companies raise the number of incidents to at least 60. The exploding firepot lawyers at Chaffin Luhana LLP are standing by, ready to review your potential case.
What are Exploding Firepots?
Exploding firepots are ceramic firepots filled with either a scent-free or citronella pourable gel in order to ward off insects. The clear, pourable gel fuel is packaged in transparent one-quart plastic bottles and one-gallon plastic jugs. The fuel gel is poured into a stainless steel cup in the center of the firepot or other decorative lighting device and ignited. Under certain conditions, the firepots explode and the blazing jellylike pourable gel explodes like a Molotov cocktail. Napa Home & Garden exploding clay firepots, Fuel Barons’ exploding fuel gel, and BirdBrain’s exploding firepots can cause serious second- and third-degree burns to those near the exploding ceramic firepots.
Gel Fuel Lawyer and Safety Warnings
Gel fuel lawyers point to the fact that the warning on the exploding porcelain firepots, which warns about the danger of adding more fuel to the ceramic firepots, is printed on a piece of outer packaging that is shipped with the firepot but is commonly thrown away when the firepot is first opened. The gel fuel lawyers at Chaffin Luhana believe that this warning was inadequate and that Napa Home & Garden, Fuel Barons, and BirdBrain are liable to victims for their injuries. Napa Home & Garden now reports a plan to revise their exploding firepot warning system by placing larger warnings on the ceramic firepots themselves, but consumers continue to be seriously burned through use of the existing hazardous bomb-like firepots that are filled with fuel gel from companies like Fuel Barons.
On June 22, 2011, the CPSC announced a pourable gel fuel recall of the Pourable NAPAfire and FIREGEL Gel Fuel bottles and jugs, and on September 1, 2011 the CPSC annouced a recall of BirdBrain pourable gel fuel and gel fuel made by other manufacturers, in an attempt to reduce the risk of serious burns caused by the exploding ceramic gel pots. Retailers, including Bed Bath & Beyond, Home Depot, Sam’s Club, Shopko, Restoration Hardware, will no longer sell the exploding firepots. They offer consumers who have been seriously burned a refund on the bottles or jugs of the exploding firepot’s gel fuel, but do not offer similar compensation for injuries that can potentially be achieved through an exploding firepot lawsuit.
